The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the exam pattern for the Assistant 2025 recruitment. The selection process consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Language Proficiency Test (LPT). Below is the detailed exam pattern and syllabus structure based on the official notification.
1. Selection Process
- Phase I: Preliminary Examination (Online Objective Test)
- Phase II: Main Examination (Online Objective Test)
- Phase III: Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
2. RBI Assistant Prelims Exam Pattern
The Preliminary Exam is qualifying in nature. It consists of 100 questions with a total duration of 60 minutes. There is sectional timing for each section.

4. Marking Scheme
- Negative Marking: There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests (Preliminary and Main). 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Normalization: Scores will be equated (normalized) using the equipercentile method if the exam is held in multiple sessions.
5. Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
Candidates provisionally shortlisted from the Main Examination will undergo the LPT. The test will be conducted in the Official/Local Language of the State concerned. Candidates not proficient in the Official/Local Language shall be disqualified. (Refer to Appendix-I of the Notification for state-wise languages).

Note: The official notification lists only the test names. Below are the standard topics covered in RBI Assistant exams based on general banking curriculum.
Reasoning Ability
Puzzles, Seating Arrangement, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Inequalities, Coding-Decoding, Input-Output, Data Sufficiency.
Numerical Ability
Data Interpretation, Number Series, Quadratic Equations, Approximation/Simplification, Arithmetic (Profit & Loss, SI/CI, Time & Work, Speed, Distance & Time, Ratio & Proportion).
English Language
Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Error Detection, Para Jumbles, Fill in the Blanks, Sentence Improvement.
General Awareness
Banking Awareness, Current Affairs, Static GK, RBI Monetary Policy, Financial Awareness.
Computer Knowledge
Basic Hardware & Software, DBMS, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet & Networking, History of Computers, Shortcuts.
